ABOUT
The first Beebe Open was played in 1989 at Pine Lake Golf Course in Haslett, Michigan, and initially consisted of twenty players. The main reason for creating this annual event was to give our core group of friends an opportunity to get together once a year and play some competitive golf.
In 1991, Haslett High School seniors Sean Beebe, Tom Myers, and Mark Perkins passed away. In their memory, a scholarship fund was created. With the number of participants increasing each year in the Beebe Open, we realized it would be a great opportunity to raise money for the Class of 1991 Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund gives money to deserving college bound seniors. Through the years, the Beebe Open has raised over $55,000 in scholarship money for Haslett graduates.
The Beebe Open always takes place on the last Saturday in June. The current venue of the outing is Meridian Sun Golf Club in Haslett, Michigan. The outing uses a four person scramble format and is played in eightsomes in order to create a more social atmosphere. The number of participants has reached the maximum capacity for the past several years. Players travel from states such as Texas, California, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, and Illinois to participate in the Beebe Open each year.
